:Descriptions:
The Hitachiin brothers are identical twins, 5’ 9” in height and Japanese in origin with orange spiked hair and gold, usually shifty looking, eyes. They often dress alike and are very hard to tell apart except for the part in their bangs, Hikaru’s goes to the right and Kaoru’s goes to the left. They are also extremely trendy (which their family’s extreme wealth can provide them to keep up on, as well as their mother’s job as a fashion designer).
:Personality:
As a unit, and they are fairly inseparable, their personalities are rather dry; very avid about things they are interested in but quite apathetic toward things they are not. They are calculating and can seem very shifty or deceiving and often do unexpected things. They have an extremely close relationship as brothers (which in the show, they play off of this deep relationship as the customers of the host club love the forbidden thought of incest between them) and their world is fairly small, keeping an attitude of “us” and “them” that has started to finally expand and allow other people into it. If something's interesting to them, they will go along with it, but once they're bored, they discard it. They have a type of cool and laid-back, but insolent attitude. Despite their joking manner, they can get serious. Seriousness only usually happens when they're alone and they can talk things out. They also get genuinely upset when something happens to the other twin. The twins are social creatures, but may seem a bit stand-offish or cold for awhile. That, or they will be very in-your-face. It really depends on how they perceive the person they are meeting and decide how they will interact with them.
Separately, Hikaru is the older twin and the “leader” when it comes to any tricky plans. His words and actions are a bit more evil than his brother's and he can be loud and crazy about schemes. He also doesn't care if he's being rude or obnoxious, especially if he thinks he's right. He gets angrier a lot easier than his brother, Kaoru is usually the one to tone him down. He is especially immature and acts out his feelings without restraint. He only knows how to throw his feelings around rather than expressing them calmly. However, Kaoru seems to have a lot more intelligence when concerning others' feelings and what they say. He has better control over his emotions. He is more mature, since he is aware of both his and Hikaru's flaws and acts more normal when alone, while following his brother’s lead in public.
:Why Fandom:
The Hitachiin twins have come to Fandom for a study abroad program (from Japan) so that they can study English (among other subjects) and secretly research the 'commoner' lifestyle.
:Extra:
Hikaru and Kaoru are being pulled from the middle/beginning of the Ouran High School Host Club series. They are aquainted with all of the Host Club members, but they are still in a 'bubble stage' where they are not as willinging to break from each other as they are later in the show. Their 'brotherly love' theme from Host Club (where they pretend to be in love -twincest- to make girls 'excited') may come into play here at Fandom if necessary, otherwise they will act accordingly.
For the purposes of being convienient the Hitachiin brothers can speak perfect English (not that their rich schooling and upbringing wouldn't have already provided this) and may speak to any other Japanese students in Japanese if they like.
